Of Pugs and Teapots

Some of you know that for stress-relief from writing, I browse flea markets and antique shops for vintage treasures. I’m passionate about teapots and fine English china. It isn’t always easy to find that perfect piece, but the thrill of the hunt is fun. Meeting like-minded collectors is a great part of the experience.
Last week I had a serendipitous moment. I took my pug to the vet. I don’t know how it happened, but the doctor and I got on the subject of tea. I mentioned my tea set collections and he said, “Old English Rose.”
I answered, “The best.” We talked about the beauty of this Royal Albert pattern. Then he said, “Wait here a moment.” He came back with a plastic bag full of his favorite tea. My husband was waiting in the lobby when I left the room. He took one look at the baggie filled with leaves and sticks and turned pale.
He thought that our pug had been diagnosed with a condition so dire that the vet had prescribed medical marijuana for her.
